Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) of the Greenwood Police Department is comprised of dedicated and professional investigators responsible for various areas, including Criminal Investigations, School Resource Officers, Narcotics, and Sex Offenders.

Responsibilities of the CID:

  • Criminal Investigations: Handling both minor and major crimes.
  • School Resource Officers (SROs): Engaging with schools to ensure safety and support educational goals.
  • Narcotics: Tackling drug-related crimes and enforcing drug laws.
  • Sex Offenders: Managing and monitoring sex offenders within the community.

The primary function of the CID is to investigate all minor and major crimes. Unlike larger departments where detectives may specialize in certain types of crimes, detectives at the Greenwood Police Department investigate a wide variety of crimes.

After the Patrol unit takes the initial report of a crime, the CID commander reviews the report and assigns the case to a detective.

Each assigned detective works diligently on their cases, following all leads to solve the crime. The investigation continues until all leads are exhausted and the crime is either solved or the case goes cold.

Detectives at the Greenwood Police Department are committed to solving each crime and making every effort possible to ensure successful prosecution. Their dedication and professionalism are crucial to maintaining justice and safety within the community.

The Criminal Investigations Division is under the direction of Lt. Jeff Fugatt.
