The Greenwood Police Department offers multiple career paths including Patrol, Criminal Investigations, School Resource Officer, K-9, Bicycle Patrol, & Drug Task Force.  The possibilities are only limited by your dedication and commitment.

Applicants must possess a high school diploma or GED and be at least 21 years of age. They should be of good character and free of any convictions for a felony offense or offense involving domestic violence. A thorough background investigation will be conducted to determine an applicant’s fitness for duty with the Greenwood Police Department.

Application & Hiring Process


Step 1 - Applying

Complete the Employment application in entirety. Be sure to have it notarized where requested and return all required documents. Download the application below, pick up the application in person, or request by mail to greenwoodpdoffice@gwark.com.

Step 2 - Physical Fitness Test

Applicants need to have the Medical waiver signed by their physician to attend this portion of the hiring process.  The test will consist of the following:

  • Sit and Reach
  • 1 Minute Sit Ups
  • 1 Minute Push Ups
  • 1.5 Mile Run

Applicants will receive notification of when this test has been scheduled.

Step 3 - Face to Face Interviews

Applicants will be contacted and an interview will be scheduled.  This process will take place in front of a 4 to 6 person panel.  A series of questions will be asked and the applicant will take a brief spelling and reading exam.

Step 4 - Background Check

Applicants will be selected and background investigations will begin.  At this time, an integrity interview will be scheduled and fingerprints will be obtained and sent for a records check with the Arkansas State Police.

Step 5 - Employment Offer

The Chief of Police will extend a conditional offer of employment to those selected.  A drug screen, physical exam, and MMPI test will be scheduled. Upon the completion and passing of exams, a hire date will be given.

Vehicle Crash Reports


The Arkansas Department of Public Safety maintains the central repository of all vehicle accidents within the State of Arkansas.  Reports are usually available within ten (10) business days following the date of the crash.
